    What Your Job Will Be Like

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Technologist to join our Energetic Threats and Training Department.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Assist with electronic fabrication, coordination, and development.

    • Assist with coordination and execution for DoD, DOJ, and DOE CWMD Training

    • Utilize explosives experience to conduct energetic operations.

    • Coordinate and integrate with DoD, DOJ, and DOE Render Safe Teams

    • Assist Project Managers with scheduling and executing training aids.

    • Solder, and program electronic circuit boards

    • Procure and inventory laboratory components.

    • Author device operating procedures

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

    Salary Range

    $66,900 - $128,900

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    Qualifications We Require

    • High school diploma plus three (3) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Experience in the following:

    • Project management, coordination, and scheduling.

    • Planning, performing, and executing explosives operations.

    • Basic mechanical hand tools.

    • Laboratory and field environments.

    • Interpret technical drawings and execute the desired deliverable.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

    Qualifications We Desire

    • 5 Years of demonstrated planning and coordination of large-scale events.

    • Experience in the following:

    • Instructing and providing training.

    • Explosives breaching charges and procedures.

    • Electronic component troubleshooting

    • Energetic material and field testing

    • High-consequence high-hazard environments.

    • Fire set development and coordination.

    • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent

    About Our Team

    The Energetic Threats and Training Department serves the nation's need for energetic threat assessments for WMD first responders. 6646 serves customers from DoD, DOJ, DHS, NNSA, and others by designing and developing inert improvised nuclear devices. Additionally, the department performs large scale threat with real world training venues and scenarios locally at Site 9940 as well as offsite.

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Position Information

    This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

    Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
