    Job Summary:

    The CTCT division (a joint venture between Caterpillar and Trimble) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.

    On the Customer Segment team, we rely on insightful data to understand our target customer segments and make profitable strategic decisions. We're seeking an experienced data scientist with a natural curiosity and a creative mind; someone who is excited about determining the best way to answer hard questions. The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience with product usage analytics, as well as economics and market analysis. Strong communication skills are also vital. This person will need to be able to help communicate complex data strategies to a variety of stakeholders.

    What You Will Do:

    • Formulate a Market Analysis strategy that ensures we're identifying and accurately estimating the most important customer segments

    • Communicate the Market Analysis strategy and support Customer Segment leads in the analysis

    • Formulate a Data Analytics strategy that allows us to track our success within each targeted customer segment

    • Communicate the Data Analytics strategy and support Product teams and Data Extraction teams in implementation

    • Devise idealized dashboards and methods of conveying valuable segment insights to stakeholders

    Education Requirement:

    Bachelor's degree in data analytics, MS in Data Analytics is ideal

    What Skills You Will Have:

    Customer Focus :

    • Participates in Segment Overviews and Site Visits to better understand the unique needs of a customer segment

    • Helps product teams and stakeholders determine how best to articulate the questions to be answered

    Data Gathering & Analysis :

    • Oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the Customer Segment team.

    • Leverages publicly available data, industry publications, sales data, data-backed assumptions, customer research and other data sources in creative ways to answer segment questions.

    • Identifies the explicit data hooks required in order to baseline and assess product progress in a given customer segment.

    • Documents sources and validates the accuracy of data analysis by evaluating the pros and cons of data analysis methods used.

    • Develops an understanding of our product architecture and capabilities to inform the Data Analytics strategy for Customer Segment

    Collaborating:

    • Establishes shared goals to foster collaboration.

    • Actively participates in the wider Data Analytics Community of Practice representing the needs of Customer Segment

    • Deemphasizes divides; focuses on collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels.

    • Implements methods for people to come together on the fly to make decisions, solve problems, and develop products/services.

    Effective Communications :

    • Communicates complex concepts to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

    • Exercises very strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Designs dashboards that enable monitoring of segment trends year-over-year, impacting our long term strategies and roadmaps.

    The locations for this position are Mossville, IL; Dayton, OH; and Westminster, CO.

    Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

    This position may require up to 15% travel.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $108,360.00 - $162,480.00

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
