Job Summary

Levy restaurants at Huntington Convention Center offers a unique internship opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in horticulture and animal care on their urban farm. This internship is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills in managing a sustainable farm environment, focusing on the care of various farm animals and the cultivation of herbs for culinary use.

The paid internship aims to equip participants with fundamental skills in farm animal care and horticulture. Interns will engage in daily farm operations, learning to balance the needs of the animals and plants to create a thriving ecosystem.

Responsibilities-

• Animal Care:

• Tending to ducks, chickens, pigs and goats

• Daily feeding and ensuring access to clean water

• Monitoring and addressing basic health needs

• Cleaning animal enclosures

• Horticulture:

• Growing and maintaining a variety of herbs used in Levy's Kitchen

• Learning about plant species suitable for the local climate

• Understanding the benefits of plants and herbs to the overall farm ecosystem

• Assisting in planting, watering, and harvesting herbs.

Requirements-

• Interest in horticulture and animals

• Preferably someone in school for vet tech or horticulture programs

• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with farm work.

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and be able to stand on your feet for periods of time

• Open availability-including weekends

• Enthusiasm for learning and working in an outdoor environment
