ITP Coordinator (Clinical Supervisor)

Responsibilities

General Purpose:

Supervise clinical and support activities of assigned staff in CPEP and Inpatient units. This includes caseload management support, access, any direct care related issues, and participation in program development. Provides supervision to clinical (CASAC), Peer Advocate and Peer Bridger staff. Chairs case conference meetings as needed. Assumes teaching responsibilities and direct clinical care responsibilities in CPEP. Works with CPEP Program Director to ensure smooth and cost-efficient program operations. Works with Department of Psychiatry Quality Assurance/Utilization Review Administrator and CPEP Program Director to implement QA/UR monitoring within CPEP. Reports to the CPEP Program Director.

Serves as member of CPEP Leadership Team and other committees as assigned, and serves as Chair/Co-Chair of patient- specific meetings as needed.

Subscribes to the Department's goal of creating a culturally competent environment by treating patients/families, trainees, research subjects and co-workers in a sensitive and caring manner with appropriate attention to cultural differences. Participates in available cultural competence events and trainings.

Specific Responsibilities:

Directly supervises clinical and Peer staff in assigned units, including orientation of new staff. Supervises the development and implementation of specific chemical dependency treatment goals for patients in CPEP and Inpatient units. Monitors implementation of policies and procedures in assigned units. Makes hiring and termination decisions regarding clinical and peer staff. Serves as primary consultant to other direct service clinical staff. Sets the tone for an integrated approach to the treatment of patients who have both mental illness and chemical dependency. Coordinates urgent care, access to treatment, special arrangements and complicated cases' needs.

Provides direct clinical care and participates as a leadership role in the CPEP team, providing a mixture of assessments and individual treatment, according to individual interest and program needs. Assesses patient needs and readiness for appropriate level of follow up services, and completes collaborative discharge plan accordingly. Completes and maintains patient charts, and other required documentation of services rendered.

Communicates with referral sources, including legal and criminal justice representatives, as needed to support follow up and continuity of care.

Mobilizes family and natural support networks when necessary, and assumes a leadership role in the multidisciplinary team approach to SUD treatment, case management, training, and community interventions.

Prepare, track, and plan for changes in census and patient services in CPEP and Inpatient. Maintains a working knowledge of Finger Lakes Region substance use treatment services, self-help groups, and other services, and referral processes for these programs. Ensures that clinical staff members maintain competency in relevant areas of substance use and mental health treatment, and maintain knowledge of referral sources, and eligibility and treatment requirements for other facilities. Perform chart auditing and coordinate incident reporting procedures. Coordinates program evaluation/Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities including incident reviews with CPEP Program Director and Quality Assurance Administrator.

Maintains active case records including written assessments, progress notes, recommended/suggested follow up services, and appropriate documentation of incidents, discharge summaries, interagency communications, and correspondence.

Establishes communication, using established rules of confidentiality and laws concerning rights of patients, with family, other health-related agencies, employers, criminal justice programs, and social service status. Provides interdisciplinary staff with obtained information for incorporation into team assessment of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patients and their families.

Ensures effective liaison with other program components within Addiction Psychiatry. Represents assigned units on Department of Psychiatry committees as assigned. Represents assigned units within the Department of Psychiatry, to achieve effective liaison with other programs in the Department and continuity of care for patients who may be in more than one program within the Department of Psychiatry. As directed by the CPEP Program Director, the Clinical Supervisor may represent CPEP/Inpatient to outside agencies, including county and other governmental agencies

Participates in program staff development and informational activities including

• Maintains continuing education in knowledge and skills affecting the discipline of chemical dependency counseling, and COD treatment, including attendance at in-service meetings.

• Provides on-site teaching to multi-disciplinary staff and students as requested.

• May give lectures/talks on specific topics to staff, patients, and their families.

• Reports to clinical supervisor regularly for supervision of all clinical activity.

• Participates in CPEP Leadership meetings, department meetings to review policy, and procedures, as well as Care Coordination meetings/reviews.

Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:

• Milieu management in CPEP

• Toxicology screen monitoring

• Assess patients for physical, behavioral signs of drug/alcohol use and request BAC tests as needed.

• Assist staff in assessing patient's acting-out behavior, and develop a plan of action to help maintain the safety of other patients and staff in clinic.

• Provides supervision and consultation to Interns as assigned.

Requirements :

• Master's Degree in a human services discipline and New York State or National Credential/Certificate in addiction-related specialty required.

• Five years combined clinical and supervisory experience, including both

• chemical dependency experience and specific MICA treatment experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Mental Health and Addiction assessment and treatment. Counseling theories and techniques. Clinical writing. Health and human services resources preferred.

• NYS Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) required

• NYS OMH Peer Certification preferred

• Completion of the Clinical Supervision Foundations I and II course (Part I is online and Part II is in person) totaling 30 hours preferred.

• Complete the 12-hour Peer Supervision training offered through Recovery Coach University preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $57,595 - $80,600 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
