  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary :

    The technician will provide research support the goals of an immunology laboratory aimed at understanding the immune responses to pathogens and tumors. As part of this position, the technician will participate in maintaining mouse colony and work with the Principal Investigator to develop novel strategies to improve the functions of the immune system during infection and cancer.

    We require a very well-organized and highly motivated individual who seeks to contribute substantially to the overall research mission of the lab. This work will involve the planning and execution of experiments involving the use of mouse models. The Laboratory Technician will use existing protocols and will collaborate with other laboratories. Techniques frequently utilized include PCR, cell purification and flow cytometry.

    Responsibilities with % of Time

    • 25% Maintain mouse colony including breeding, health monitoring and decision-making regarding rodent

    • 25% Determine mouse genotype using PCR or flow cytometry

    • 25% Designs, conducts and analyzes immunology experiments using in vivo, cellular and molecular approaches

    • 10% Assists in the management of the laboratory's reagent inventory and keeps research supplies stocked

    • 10% Attends weekly lab meetings and relevant seminars, including regular meetings with the PI

    • 5% Other job duties as assigned 5%

    Qualifications :

    • BS/BA degree in biochemistry, biology or chemistry with some research experience in a related field preferred. Prefer an individual with an interest or coursework in Immunology.

    • Ability to work with rodents.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.

    • Must be detailed, accurate and highly organized.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Strong attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 16.49 - $ 23.08 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
