    Ford Motor Company's High Performance Computing environment provides Ford's global user base with capabilities to run complex, resource-intensive computational tasks, including CAE analysis, ADAS simulations, graphics rendering, machine learning model training, and analytics. Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced Linux systems engineer to join their High Performance Computing team. The selected candidate will be a member of the team responsible for the management of the majority of the applications that run in the environment. This includes developing solutions that enable our internal customers to be successful and working with the team to ensure the environment runs optimally.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participate in the design and implementation of HPC based workflows and solutions

    • Install, integrate, and optimize the applications that run in the environment

    • Develop and support automations and scripts (Ansible, Python, Bash)

    • Assist development teams and internal customers with environment related questions and issues

    • Monitor and troubleshoot application and system failures (occasional on-call)

    • Collaborate with business customers to collect solution requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

    • Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system

    • Significant experience with Linux system administration

    • Strong understanding of server hardware and networking (e.g. CPU architecture)

    • Ability to write scripts and automations in languages such as Python and Bash.

    • Strong understanding of batch scheduling concepts

    • Comfortable with containerization (Docker, Buildah, Podman)

    • Understanding of distributed computing and message passing (MPI) concepts

    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

    • Good communication and collaboration skills

    • Attention to detail and ability to work independently

    Desired Skills

    • Experience maintaining CAE applications in HPC environments

    • Familiarity with Cloud concepts and bursting solutions

    • Experience with large scale storage systems (Lustre, GPFS, etc.) and InfiniBand networking

    • Experience with batch scheduler management (scheduling policies, resource management)

    • Familiarity with authentication and access control systems (ADFS, LDAP, Kerberos)

    • Experience writing Ansible automation

    • Ability to use Git
