    Description of Work Unit

    Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation's leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.     Transportation Services mission is to manage the University's entire fleet of vehicles and trailers while providing the highest quality service and transportation to Colorado State University and other State customers to help fulfill their goals and objectives. Providing a wide variety of fleet management services, including vehicle maintenance and repair, bus services, and daily rentals.

    Position Summary

    This position exists to change oil, rotate and repair tires, change or replace lights, tires, and batteries. Colorado State University owns a fleet of vehicles including but not limited to: Sedans, SUVs, Vans (passenger and cargo), Pickups, Golf Carts and EV vehicles. This position will need to accurately document and maintain vehicle records in an electronic system and use training, critical thinking skills, and team communication for automotive diagnostic purposes and their associated resolutions.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED .

    • One year of experience inspecting, servicing, and maintaining automotive vehicles.

    • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a valid driver's license by the position start date.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Satisfactory completion of a formalized apprenticeship program, or higher-level non-correspondence course work from an accredited vocational or technical school.

    • Demonstrated proficiency on position competencies may substitute for the required experience.

    • Critical thinking and analytical skills.

    • Attention to detail.

    Job Duty CategoryVehicle Preventative Maintenance

    Duty/Responsibility

    Perform scheduled preventative maintenance that includes but is not limited to

    • Changing oil, filters, lubricants, grease and other fluids on engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.

    • Inspecting, adjusting, and replacing belts, hoses, lines along with cleaning and lubricating parts.

    • Rotating or replacing tires and repairing flat tires.

    • Battery testing or replacement.

    • Resetting engine oil life and tire monitors.

    • Performing vehicle inspections.

    • Working within a team environment to efficiently complete multiple on-going tasks.
