    BAE Systems Inc, located in Boulder, CO currently has Machinist Prototype Senior opportunities available in our Space and Mission Systems manufacturing facility. A real team environment of continued success.

    The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

    What You ll Do:

    • Machine prototype spaceflight hardware and ground support equipment daily.

    • Work independently from complex drawings, sketches, CAD models, and/or verbal instructions to facilitate the manufacture of parts and assemblies by programming, setting up, and operating a 3-axis mill, tool room lathe and occasional surface grinding needs.

    • Program and setup daily on 1 off prototype work in a variety of metals.

    • Complete 1st piece and in process inspections as needed.

    • May assist in manufacturing process planning and estimating.

    • Manufacture simple to complex parts made from a variety of materials with tolerances to .001.

    • Work with engineering for design and manufacturing producibility.

    • Detailed documentation as required per our AS9100 quality management system.

    • Annual maintenance agreements keep us up to date with new Mastercam releases.

    • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

    • Perform other duties as necessary.

    On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

    • This is a 1st or 2nd shift opportunity. 2nd shift has a pay differential offered.

    • Monday Friday schedule. Typical work hours for 1st shift are 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM and typical work hours for 2nd shift are 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.

    Hourly Rate: $34.13 - $46.15

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    • High School diploma or equivalent plus 8 years or more related experience or a 2-year technical degree and 6 years or more related experience.

    • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor s or Master s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

    • Experience in a prototype machinist environment.

    • Basic operation of computers.

    • Solid GD&T understanding.

    • Programming experience (3-axis) using Mastercam, currently 2023 release.

    • Must be self-managed and driven to achieve quality product.

    • Must be able to effectively participate in a team environment with members from all disciplines.

    • Good communication skills.

    Pay Information

    Full-Time Salary Range: $71000 - $96000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
