    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Risk Manager will coordinate the risk management & patient safety program, including participation in clinical risk management, claims management, patient and visitor safety program administration and education for this facility. This position contributes toward those systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures. She/he will provide counseling and education to facility leadership, clinical and non clinical personnel, and medical staff members related to risk exposures including risk prevention and patient safety initiatives. The Risk Manager will also participate in the management and support of professional liability litigation at the direction and under the guidance of HCI.

    The Risk Manager is responsible for the facility's risk management activities, which include, but may not be limited to, a general knowledge of facility insurance programs and risk financing, managing claims against the facility, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day, managing and analyzing risk management data, conducting risk management educational programs, guest service management and oversight, as well as complying with risk management related standards by The Joint Commission, all with the objective of maintaining patient safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the facility. Responsible for compliance with the Risk Management statutes and rules of the state of Georgia.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • 3+ years of hospital risk management or patient safety experience required

    • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Risk Management field preferred

    • Risk Management or Patient Safety Certification (CPHRM, CPPS) preferred

    • CPHRM certification preferred, if not at the time of hire, to be obtained within 24 hours
