    JOB SUMMARY As a contract Mechanical Engineer, this role is responsible for the design and development of subsystems, assemblies, and components within a new product development (NPD) project. This role will apply their mechanical engineering experience toward the integration and development of a future IMRIS product.This role is responsible for successfully developing mechanical subsystems and designs. Ideal candidates may have experience in medical device product development, and have demonstrated successful technical leadership & execution with an appropriate sense of urgency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Support the engineering design and development of medical device products in an NPD project. - May include the role of subassembly design owner, which includes leading a multidisciplinary team and influencing design direction outside the mechanical engineering team. - May lead the transition of system requirements to mechanical subsystem requirements in complex designs. - Communicate and coordinate effectively with a cross-functional team to establish robust, manufacturable product designs that meet requirements. - Lead design reviews of your assigned work. - Participate in estimating time requirements for various designs and design activities. - Create the 3D models, simulations, technical drawings, schematics, and technical analyses to document new designs. - Specify system components to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. - Verify conformity to product specifications, design standards and external requirements. - Accurately document design issues and resolutions. - Participate in engineering prototype builds and verification activities. - Participate in design transfer of IMRIS products to both external vendors and IMRIS manufacturing, service and installation.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    Education and Experience: - BS in Mechanical Engineering - Minimum of 3 years industry experience in mechanical product design Abilities: - 3+ years of experience - Large machine design - Creating designs and drawings, they don't have designers to offload to - Demonstrative ability to have been in engineering design - Design Inputs - Ability to develop and select conceptual solutions that meet design requirements - Ability to lead FMEA on mechanical systems - Demonstrated machine design capabilities. Robust knowledge of machine component manufacturing processes including mill, lathe and sheet metal forming - Team oriented - values synergy of group efforts and invests the effort required to create group solutions - Driven by a sense of mission and clearly articulates goals to achieve specific results. Takes the initiative to complete important tasks. - Knowledge of tolerance analysis and ability to apply it appropriately to IMRIS products - Demonstrated capability implementing GD&T drawing documentation - Proficient at engineering design using 3D modeling - SolidWorks 3D CAD experience required - Experience performing FEA structural analysis Preferred: - Medical device new product development experience preferred - Knowledge of FDA QSR, ISO 14385 and UL 60601 preferred - Technical experience of cross-functional product design preferred - Knowledge of composite structures preferred
