    Job Description:

    We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer. Successful candidates will be members of a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, cross-functional design engineering team.

    Essential Functions:

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Electromechanical packaging, design, analysis, and test

    • Modification of existing and/or creation of new designs including racks, shelters, enclosures, airborne and rack-mount chassis, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs)

    • Ensure new designs progress according to technical objectives, within budgetary and schedule constraints

    • Assist in specification creation, the proposal process, and presentations to customers or management

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

    • Proficient in CAD and drafting standards. 2+ years relevant experience with Siemens' NX, preferred.

    • Working knowledge and experience with FEA theory, (ANSYS experience preferred). Experience with CFD simulation of subsonic external flow to determine loads, drag, and stability is a plus.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) are necessary.

    • Exposure to/experience with environmental testing, ie. shock, vibration, temperature/altitude, environmental stress screening (ESS).

    • Proficient with electronics cooling methods and strong background in heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation) applied to electronics packaging and reliability

    • Design experience with Open Standards: VITA, VME, PMC and mixed signal board design (RF and Digital) is preferred

    • Must be available to work overtime and weekends when required

    • Strong work ethic; maintain a sense of urgency to ensure obligations are met

    • Due to the nature of our work this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
