  • Description:

    Overview: This position is to ensure that product testing, analysis, documentation and reporting of results are completed accurately and timely. This position provides support for product conformance, performance and product claims. All procedures are to be completed as stated and records or documentation maintained.

    Responsibilities:

    · Required to taste food products that may contain food allergens including but not limited to (example: tree nuts).

    · Meticulous setup, execution, recording, analysis, and reporting of product testing.

    · Maintain lab equipment and supplies and make recommendations for improvements.

    · Prepare sample for analysis by recording, prepare media and perform daily product testing.

    · Document and communicate results using the customer specifications or standards provided.

    · Prepare Corrective Action if results do not meet standard or specification and advise Quality Manager.

    · Complete, daily, boiler and RO water testing, record in computer system and provide report to Operations Manager for review.

    · Assist with calibrating and preparation of the HPLC, complete testing and record results accurately and timely.

    · Autoclave 2-3 times per week, as needed.

    · Complete Dud Detector challenge weekly, as applicable.

    · Complete customer required swabs, maintain forms and documentation.

    · Perform PH water testing each morning.

    · Complete, monthly, the brittle plastic/glass report by the end of the 1st week of each month.

    · Complete hold reporting as requested from the Quality Manager on a monthly basis.

    · Assist with allergen testing: rinse water from sanitation & test; as well as, send swabs to outside lab and document results. If results are positive, they require a corrective action and notification to Quality Manager immediately.

    · Ensure all solutions are made and available at all times: Titration, Sulfuric Acid, Caustic and Vitamin C verification, etc.

    · Assist with holds and rework as requested by sorting, selecting and sampling as required.

    · Assist with maintenance on lab retention samples as required.

    · Assist Lab Technicians with line checks and/or water testing as needed.

    · Assist with coverage for absences.

    · Assist with High Fructose and CO2 delivery receipt testing.

    · Ensure current FORMS are available in the lunch room for Production's use.

    · Verifier for primary container and case coding.

    · Ensure 72 Valve Checks are completed as required by Production Leads timely and within specification.

    · Test cooler water at startup and every 4 hours and if necessary make corrections and retest.

    · Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management.

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required or an associate degree in chemistry or related field preferred.
    • Previous laboratory or quality control experience required, with Food and Beverage industry preferred.
    • A basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Required to fully comply with Quality Management System Policies and Procedures and Food Safety Management requirements.
    • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate, read and comprehend instructions and procedures in English.
    • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize workload and accommodate shift in daily priorities based on the needs of the business.
    • Ability to demonstrate a high sense of urgency and be proactive in addressing problems as they arise.
    • Ability to calculate and understand basic math and simple formulas including but not limited to: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages, production rates and recirculation rates.
    • Proficiency in basic computer data entry and document retrieval.
    • Must attain Food Safety Training (Qualified Individual)

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and climbing), perform repetitive motions for extended period of time (up to 2-3 hours) and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects; using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
    • Ability to work in various conditions with exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust and fumes.
    • Physical dexterity is required to measure, pipette and transfer samples into plates and tubes.
