    This Opportunity

    WSP USA is seeking an experienced consultant to lead and manage our NEPA service offerings as part of our Environmental Assessment and Permitting Service Line in Texas. Preferred location is Houston, but other office locations may include Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio. The Texas office has approximately 240 professionals, is a dynamic work environment. Within the Texas office, the Environmental Assessment and Permitting team is comprised of more than 12 staff with diverse backgrounds including biologists, wetland scientists, permitting specialists, and environmental engineers with an emphasis on consulting within the energy, oil and gas, industrial and government sectors. The successful candidate will be a proven industry leader in the NEPA and/or natural resources fields and possess a balanced portfolio of industry knowledge and skills to lead service offerings in this discipline.

    WSP USA invites qualified applicants with a Bachelor's degree or higher in the fields of Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering with direct work experience to apply for the position.

    Who You Are

    Required Skills/Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or a related field.

    • 10+ years of experience working as an environmental scientist/engineer and completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and impact assessments, and/or construction monitoring.

    • Specific background and expertise should consist of strong environmental science / ecology skills with specific ecosystem, habitat, and/or applicable species.

    • Expertise and experience with State and Federal protection regulations, guidelines, and consulting processes pertaining to the specific environmental science position.

    • Established experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting and resource agencies, and environmental technical staff required.

    • Demonstrated experience leading and reviewing environmental science technical reports, environmental impact evaluations, siting reports, and environmental permit applications and licensing, including field surveys and reporting, and resource and impact evaluations (e.g. commercial, renewable energy, infrastructure, etc.)

    • Well-developed expertise with conducting NEPA / CEQA / other analysis and preparation of associated documentation.

    • Highly capable self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

    • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

    • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.

    • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.

    Your Impact - Key Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership in business development as well as financial and administrative aspects of managing NEPA and related service offerings to sustain and expand successful operations in this discipline

    • Collaboration with other WSP business operations across the global organization

    • Serve as senior project manager and/or project expert on NEPA specific tasks or projects

    • Support proposal development with estimates for efforts required to deliver environmental and regulatory compliance for projects

    • Contribute to client business development activities in a doer / seller format, including client development, SOW and proposal preparation and client-centric presentations

    • Assure on-time delivery of quality work products

    • Manage risks including for senior risk/tender reviews as well as providing direction on technical projects

    • Execute project performance and budget monitoring & reporting (internally and externally)

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

    • Willing to travel up to 20% to meet project needs in the Gulf Coast region

    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

    Physical Demands

    • Field work in outdoor environments - walking on uneven terrain

    • Wear petrochemical facility standard PPE including FRCs, steel toed shoes, etc.
