  • Overview

    Essential Areas of Responsibility

    • Provide care to patients of all ages - children to geriatrics

    • Emergency Room consults, triage and medical care

    • Round, admit and manage health needs of patients with a significant range of complex and co-morbid disease conditions

    • Manages all inpatient care and provides prompt attention to all patients admitted to the hospital, including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within your scope of practice)

    • Collaborate and coordinate patient care with physicians, nursing, health care personnel, and care team members for patients in the hospital and ER

    • Employing quality and process improvement practices to make the hospital a safer place and improve patient outcomes

    CHI Oakes Hospital is a 20-bed critical access hospital that provides various inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 14000 people in southeastern North Dakota. It is also a 24-Hour Emergency Level V Trauma Center. The hospital building was newly-constructed in 2007 replacing a 50-year old building and in 2010 Oakes Community Clinic was opened within the hospital building. The hospital is part of a larger values-based organization CommonSpirit Health.

    Responsibilities

    • Patient Care:

    • Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.

    • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.

    • Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.

    • Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

    • Provide clear and concise medical information.

    • Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare.

    • Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

    • Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

    • Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.

    • Diagnostic Procedures:

    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging.

    • Perform procedures as needed

    • Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation.

    • Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.

    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.

    • Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers.

    • Quality Improvement:

    • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

    • Review and analyze clinical outcomes for continuous improvement.

    • Implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.

    • Compliance:

    • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice.

    • Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to standards.

    • Continuous Learning:

    • Stay abreast of medical advancements and best practices.

    • Participate in ongoing medical education and training.

    • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for this position:

    • will have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Masters or Doctorate program

    • will have Emergency Room or Inpatient experience of 1 year or more, required

    • board certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Hospital Medicine

    • ACLS, PALS, and ATLS or CALS certified

    • will have the qualification to successfully obtain an unrestricted Minnesota practice license and DEA

    • interested in a shift-based condensed work schedule [Ten 24-hr shifts is full-time]

    • have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

    • demonstrate the ability to work independently

    Pay Range

    $86.04 - $95.10 /hour
