  • What You Will Do

    Join our multidisciplinary Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) team within Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), a research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The Occupational Safety and Health Division-Industrial Safety and Hygiene Group (OSH-ISH) is seeking a motivated undergraduate summer intern student to support the OSH-ISH professional teams. You will interface and collaborate with industrial hygiene and safety program subject matter experts and deployed industrial hygiene and safety professionals while becoming a resource to these teams. During the course of your job functions, you are likely to delve into many unique and exciting OSH-ISH programs at the Laboratory. Do you like variety in your daily job duties?     Your day-to-day activities will likely include a diverse scope of industrial hygiene and safety requirements including:

    • Analyzing safety data and safety processes.

    • Collaborating with subject matter experts and supervisors on unique work hazards and safety practices.

    • Developing technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences to convey the activities underway and/or completed within the industrial hygiene and safety programs.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Strong respect and adherence to established safety, security and environmental protection practices and requirements.

    • Experience working effectively as part of a team with a willingness to assist and support other team members as needed.

    • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) in a clear concise manner with superiors, peers, customers, and other personnel.

    • Experience using Microsoft Excel, including pivot table creation and data analysis.

    Education/Experience: Students must be enrolled in a Bachelor's program, in Health Sciences, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related field, with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Program requires enrollment in and successful completion of a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester (or the equivalent of full-time enrollment).

    • Detail oriented when dealing with complicated concepts.

    • General knowledge of safety processes and principles

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating the employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (~~~) .
