  • ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Ensures the accurate processing of the semi-monthly payroll. Serves as the subject matter expert in the payroll functionality of the payroll technology. Serves as the payroll and employment tax expert for the organization often asked to investigate and resolve withholding tax discrepancies that result in the company's acquisitive nature.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Serves as the subject matter expert for the payroll application tools and their functionality.

    • Ensures the proper application of payrolls such as taxation, calculation of garnished wages, taxation limits, and taxation of supplemental wages. Negotiates tax settlements, as needed.

    • Provides payroll information to Accounting in order to complete month-end reconciliations to ensure accurate balance of funding records.

    • Compiles and processes semi-monthly payroll data. Resolves employee questions and ensures that payroll functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

    • Applies for and sets-up new employment states for proper tracking of tax for system tracking and government agencies. Represents the company when resolving payroll tax discrepancies with the local, state or federal agencies.

    • Prepares reports, tax filings, correspondence, and other written materials as written reference or for compliance with statutory requirements.

    • Oversees the payroll transition of acquired companies including the reconciliation of payroll tax withholding accounts and proper payroll testing for acquired team members.

    • Researches and resolves payroll problems and discrepancies. Maintains payroll information, files, and records to provide up-to-date references and audit trails for compliance

    • Resolves employee questions and ensures that payroll functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations, and keeps management well informed of activities and significant problems

    • Completes verification of employment forms, unemployment forms, and other agency forms or census requests related to data

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    • Associate's and/or Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

    • 4-6 years of experience with complete certified/full cycle multi-state payroll processing and reporting management experience and/or training preferred

    • 4-6 years of experience in payroll tax compliance

    • Workday experience preferred

    • Extremely organized and able to work in an ever changing/rapidly expanding environment

    • Working knowledge of payroll best practices

    • Maintains high ethical standards and able to maintain upmost confidentiality in organizational knowledge and matters

    • Payroll Certifications preferred

    • Ability to work well with and maintain positive relationships within the organization as well as necessary external relationships

    • Strong computer skills required. such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint? at an intermediate level

    • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively present information and effectively communicate and relate to all levels within the organization

    • Ability to execute and prioritize a large number of tasks, and resolve issues and resource conflicts

    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

    • Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills

    • Detail-oriented
