  • The Department of Urology at the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Health System is seeking applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Urology within our Pediatric Urology Division on the tenure-eligible track. The practice has undergone consistent growth as the University of Virginia Health System has continued to expand its regional footprint to outlying areas thus resulting in a rewarding practice caring for a diverse mix of patients with different needs. The applicant would be joining our current team of two board certified Pediatric Urologists and two advanced practice providers.

    The UVA Department of Urology has a history of excellence in the area of pediatric urology and is consistently nationally ranked in the US News and World Report as a top 50 Pediatric Urology program.

    We are looking for a fellowship trained pediatric urology surgeon to join our team. Applicants should be comfortable managing all aspects of pediatric urology disease conditions. The practice and hospital offer the full range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options for children. We care for infants and children up to 18 years and selective adults with ongoing health needs due to congenital disorders. We are actively involved in caring for patients with cancer, stones, DSD among other typical pediatric urology conditions. Diagnostics include a full range of imaging including ultrasound, CT, MRI, and urodynamics. Therapeutics include state of the art robotics (Xi and SP), laparoscopy, and laser technology. We have good OR access, an outpatient surgery center, and excellent pediatric anesthesia. We offer excellent clinic support including dedicated RN clinical coordinators as well as clinic and surgery schedulers.

    The successful applicant will have a drive to be a leader in pediatric urology patient care delivery and in furthering the education of residents/students.     Responsibilities

    • Clinical-The successful applicant will participate in ambulatory clinic and procedures at UVA Health and UVA Community health sites. They will operate at UVA Hospital in the Main and Outpatient operating rooms and will have the opportunity to operate at the many affiliated hospitals and surgery centers.

    • Teaching - Teaching encompasses all activities that directly facilitate student learning, including the contact hours spent in the classroom, office hours, class preparation, grading, answering student email, student advising, evaluating and making available course materials, facilitating e-learning and related duties.

    • Research - Research interests in basic science or clinical outcomes would be welcome and accommodated.

    • Service - University service involves membership in departmental, college-level and university committees, attending departmental meetings, student/resident recruitment and processing routine paperwork such as filling out reports, answering email, participating in surveys and voting in university elections.

    • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

    The successful candidate will pass a background check and pre-employment health screening.

    Education: MD or DO, completion of residency training in Urology, completion of Pediatric Urology fellowship.

    Experience: Applicants must have experience in an Academic medical center. They must also have demonstrated experience in undergraduate and graduate medical education.

    Licensure: Board-certified or board-eligible and certified within two years of employment.
