    Responsibilities

    Post Grad

    The pharmacy intern is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in medication preparation, compounding, inventory management, and distribution, requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail. The pharmacy intern has responsibility for assisting with controlled substances management, meeting DEA, FDA, and state regulations, and has access to and manages medication storage areas using pharmacy automation. The pharmacy intern fields and triages calls and questions regarding medication distribution, assisting other caregivers within their scope of practice. The intern will also actively participate in clinical and administrative functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to augment their education and to gain insight and practical experience in their future roles as pharmacists.

    1. Use pharmacy automation to optimize safety and efficiency in drug distribution.

    2. Compound IV Admixture of sterile and non-sterile products according to USP and Board of Pharmacy requirements (if applicable by job assignment)

    3. Repackage medication into unit dose following USP regulations

    4. Perform specialized narcotic distribution, maintains accurate perpetual inventories and identifies discrepancies

    5. Manage pharmaceutical and supply inventory; completes cycle counts and monitors medication inventory levels and expiration dates

    6. Perform nursing unit/clinical area medication storage area inspections

    7. Perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and independently

    8. Respond appropriately to customers (healthcare professionals, patients, families, and other caregivers) and other requests via telephone or in person to appropriately manage issues and provide follow-up

    9. Participate in clinical and administrative functions as assigned by pharmacy leadership

    10. Other duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    Acceptance to an accredited College of Pharmacy or current enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy

    Pay Range

    $13.44 - $18.48 /hour
