    Description:

    Under general supervision, but according to established procedures, performs a variety of routine and complex physical tests such as Electrocardiograph, Graded Exercise Stress Tests, Holter Monitor/Event Monitor set ups and others, in order to assist physicians in the determination and diagnosis of disease or dysfunction. In addition, must be proficient in one of the two following procedures: 1) Electroencephalograms, 2) Holter Monitor Scanning and after completion of proficiency in one procedure and must complete other proficiencies within 6 months to receive Tech II title.

    Position is every other weekend and rotating holidays.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Analytical ability to:

    a. Preliminarily review test results and to determine the need for immediate attention by physician

    b. Perform calculations, and

    c. Determine appropriate needs of a procedure ordered for specific patient disease states. Ability to understand the techniques, procedures and equipment required for complex tests.

    1. Interpersonal skills to interact with patients in sensitive, anxious situations explaining treatment purpose and equipment operation and thereby alleviating apprehension.

    2. Previous EEG experience preferred.

    3. CPR certified.

    KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

    1. Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of high school and brief period(s) of specialized training in the performance of (various physiology) tests. One year of college level training in physiology, anatomy or biology preferred.

    2. Twelve to eighteen months of experience in order to learn

    a. Proper set-up and operation of equipment

    b. Proper methods for conducting and interpreting tests

    c. Related duties and

    d. Departmental policies and procedures

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    1. Physical ability for frequent periods of standing and walking and to support/positions patients.

    2. Visual acuity to read test results and view monitor; aural acuity to monitor heartbeat, Doppler sounds.

    3. Frequent standing and use of personal computer.

    4. Frequent walking through the radiology department. Frequent movement from sitting to standing position.

    5. Frequent lifting or pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs. unassisted.

    6. Exposure to infectious disease.

    7. Repetitive use of wrist motion in scanning.

    8. Primarily patient care environment.

    35 hours per week- second shift- 12:30pm-11pm- every other weekend and holidays to be scheduled in accordance with CBA.
