    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The postdoctoral clinical fellow (PCF) will participate in clinical services involving diagnostic testing and treatment of disorders and diseases, program development and evaluation, community outreach, education and training, and rehabilitation and/or clinical research. Under close supervision, trainees will engage in supervised clinical work guided by experienced professionals in the field. The position offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic training and independent clinical practice, ensuring that trainees develop the necessary clinical competencies or, for more experienced individuals, the proficiency to change clinical specialties. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position. PCFs may be appointed for a term of up to twelve months, which is renewable for a total period of service in a postdoctoral rank of up to five years.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Selects and administers diagnostic tests to patients/clients seeking clinical care and services at UTMB.

    • Analyzes results of tests and develops treatment plans.

    • Conducts counseling.

    • Makes recommendations for transfer, discharge and follow-up activities.

    • Participates in the development, implementation and coordination of new service programs.

    • Writes professional reports.

    • May assist in the supervision of interns and/or undergraduate or graduate students.

    • Ensures compliance with all required training programs (local, state and federal), including but not limited to mandatory clinical protocols, ethical guidelines, patient privacy regulations, and safety protocols.

    • Marginal or Periodic Functions:

    • Performs related duties as required.

    • May conduct research.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

    • Considerable knowledge of a health-related field or discipline.

    • Considerable knowledge of the selection and interpretation of diagnostic tests.

    • Ability to make clinical diagnosis and prognosis.

    • Ability to develop evidence-based treatment plans.

    • Ability to provide consultation.

    • Ability to write clinical histories, discharge summaries and professional reports.

    • Knowledge of clinical research techniques.

    • Considerable oral and written communication skills.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • PhD, MD or Doctoral equivalent in any field.

    Salary commensurate with experience
