    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Preforms surgical procedures and provides intensive care to animals with severe acute lung injury of various etiology.

    • Provides intensive care with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to the animals with severe respiratory failure.

    • Provides intensive care to animals with severe lung injury with sophisticated mechanical ventilation techniques.

    • Plans, directs, and coordinates complex research experiments following general technical procedures under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

    • Works with Principal Investigator to formulate research plans, coordinates project activities and establishes appropriate reporting procedures.

    • Contributes to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects.

    • Prepares manuscripts, meeting presentations, and performs background literature searches.

    • Makes modifications to research procedures in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.

    • Confers with Principal Investigator regarding results obtained and receives suggestions for modification to procedures and/or interpretation of final data.

    • Adheres to internal controls established for the department.

    • Performs related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field and one (1) year of completed Postdoctoral Fellow research experience.

    SALARY:

    Commensurate with experience.
