  • Weyerhaeuser is currently searching for a leader to fill the role of Night Shift Planer Mill Supervisor at the Millport, AL Lumber Mill. The Planer Mill Supervisor position is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Dryside Superintendent.

    As Planer Mill Supervisor, you will provide leadership excellence to a shift of hourly associates in achieving safety, quality and production goals. You will also safely plan, coordinate, and maintain operational schedules and support maintenance to ensure continuous process improvement. You will be accountable and responsible for delivering results in the areas of Safety, Utilization, Value Delivery, and Costs in the Planer Mill. Additional responsibilities include coordinating team training, certification of employee skills, building employee relations, and managing planer safety & environmental requirements.

    Key Functions:

    • Role model our safety standards and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles of integrity, fairness, creating a positive work environment, and ensuring open communication among associates

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable Weyerhaeuser, federal, state, and local laws and regulations

    • Develop and lead team meetings and training, identifying safety, quality and production issues, coordinate activities with maintenance team, and taking measures to proactively address all concerns

    • Proactively resolve employee issues

    • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

    • At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience

    • Work-related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives

    • Data driven decision-making using solid analytical skills

    • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates

    • Willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Industrial Technology, or Wood Science

    • Experience in manufacturing maintenance and/or wood products drying processes

    • Hands-on experience working with optimizing systems

    • Desire to advance to advanced leadership positions without mobility restrictions

    • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning Software, such as Maximo or SAP

    • Working knowledge of business and financial concepts

    • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals

    What We Offer:

    Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $66,800 to $100,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

    Retirement: Employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

    Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full-time employees
