    Job Position Title: Project Electro-Mechanical Technician

    Function: Operations

    Position Summary:

    This position will troubleshoot and diagnose issues that arise with equipment. Ensures that production equiment is maintained and improved so that quality and productin standards are met or exceeded. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.     Duties/ Responsibilities:

    • Troubleshooting and diagnosing any issues that may arise when operating the equipment

    • Maintaining and making improvements to the production equipment so that quality and production standards are met or exceeded.

    • Fully support any additional activities of the department and provide on-the-floor leadershipto all Technicians and assistance in the training and development of production line operators and department Electrical Mechanical Technicians.

    • Support and troubleshoot PLC's, operator interfaces / HMI (PanelView), and vision systems on production equipment.

    • Support and drive projects allocated by Sr. Controls Designer.

    • Work with the Controls group to understand PLC programs and maintain PLC ladder logic programs.

    • Applicants should also have a good understanding of the various networks used within the department (Ethernet, DH485, DH+, Devicenet, Sercos, CIP Motion, etc.).

    • Departmental CI Projects also supporting Control Specialist with Capital projects with direct supervision from Sr. Controls Designer, supporting the development of department Electrical Mechanical Technicians.

    • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment issues.

    • Setup, adjust and changeover production equipment as required.

    • Support and troubleshoot department PLC's, Operator Interfaces / HMI (Panel View), and Vision Systems Propose design changes and review with department engineering to upgrade equipment, improve product quality and eliminate reoccurring problems.

    • Order parts, components and equipment as required.

    • Install, modify, and understand control panel wiring and safety circuits.

    • Perform all other duties as required by the Sr. Controls Designer to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

    • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business

    Education :

    • High School Diploma or GED required

    • Associates degree required in related field

    Experience:

    • Mechanical Technician experience, including set-up, adjustment, and changeover of production equipment required

    • Previous Electrical Mechanical Technician experience preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude - Proficient

    • Working knowledge of electronic and pneumatic circuits - Proficient

    • Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics as well as machine drawings - Proficient

    • Understanding of how to install and modify control panel wiring and safety circuits - Proficient

    • Understanding of networks used within the department (Ethernet, DH485, DH+, Devicenet, Sercos, CIP Motion, etc.) - Proficient

    • Knowledge of ISO and FDA regulations (preferred)

    • Using numerous hand and power tools - Proficient

    • Past experience using various diagnostic tools (multimeter, temperature probe, microscope, etc.)

    • Ability to use various precision measuring instruments and gauges (caliper, micrometer, etc.)

    • Ability to support/troubleshoot department PLC's, Operator Interfaces/HMI (Panelviews)Vision Systems

    • Ability to diagnose cause of equipment and malfunctions or failure.

    • Oral and written communicative skills

    • Able to work well in a team environment.
