  • The incumbent serves as a regional coordinator of specialty rehabilitation services and is responsible for supervising the provision of specialty rehabilitation services in Women's and Men's Health across a number of facilities, service lines and disciplines. Additionally, the Program Director provides specialty rehabilitation services, i.e., evaluation and treatment, within his/her discipline utilizing advanced clinical skills. The incumbent reports directly to the Corporate Management Team with administrative/clerical responsibilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • May serves as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students as well as residents and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.

    • Formulates and institutes a marketing and business development plan for the program. This is done in consultation with your regional and facility directors, the Director of Marketing and Business Development and/or the Corporate Management Team and includes but is not limited to participation in community relations activities (health fairs, school districts, senior/community centers, churches, professional groups).

    • Completes necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the service rendered to the patient.

    • Maintains professional license/registration through steady pursuit and participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy requirements for licensure/registration renewal.

    • Works with and assists Corporate Management Team in the development and implementation of new administrative structures and clinical programs. Appropriately requests and actively reports objective feedback to the specialty program team members regarding program performance. Actively supports and implements the organizational directives of the Corporate Management Team.

    • Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment and treatment and supervises physical therapist assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic. Develops plan of care including goals and treatment plan in accordance with physician referral, nature of injury/illness and results of physical therapy assessment. Modifies or adjusts plan of care based on patient's response to treatment and/or changes in patient's status. Works PTAs to adjust patient programs as patient status changes.

    • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs.

    • Supervises the provision of specialty rehabilitation services across service lines, facilities and disciplines for which they are responsible. Develops and adjusts on a daily basis the work schedule for professional and clinical support staff to meet all the patient care needs of the program. The individual is responsible to follow the operational guidelines established for the program.

    • Schedules patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity which meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring delivery of quality patient care.

    • Maintains written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered including documentation of initial assessment, follow-up visits, and discharge summary consistent with department standards. Co-signs physical therapist assistant documentation biweekly.

    • Works with Facility Directors in coordinating staffing levels for the specialty program; arranging sufficient coverage at facilities to guaranteed seamless operations during scheduled and unscheduled leaves of absence of any length of time.

    • Provides input into the development of and participates in the process of capital and operating budgets and is responsible for working within the confines of the budget. Regularly consults with the Corporate Management Team regarding the income and expenses of the program and the individual facilities where program's specialty services are offered.

    • Provides verbal and/or written home instructions to patient and/or family members when applicable.

    • Actively participates in human resources management for your area of responsibility, including but not limited to the following areas: selection/placement (interviewing/hiring); orientation of all facility staff, performance management (evaluation/competency assessment/improvement plans), and employee relations (including disciplinary action and conflict resolution). Consults human resources manager and/or POD director when dealing with these matters to ensure compliance on internal (policies/practices) and external (legal and regulatory) matters.

    • Communicates patient's status to the referring physician and other health care team members.

    • Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

    • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required.

    • Five years clinical experience preferred.

    • Program development experience and ability preferred.

    • Marketing experience and ability preferred.

    • Six months experience with the Rehabilitation Institute preferred.

    • Two or more years supervisory/management experience in a health care setting preferred.

    • Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    Direct Access Physical Therapist (DAPT) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, preferred in outpatient settings.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • Physical Therapist (PT)

    • Act 33 with renewal

    • Act 34 with renewal

    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
