  • Summary: Performs quality functions directly with Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, Quality Technicians and Auditors, and the Customer Service Department. Assist on development of robust Quality Audit systems and procedures. Responsible for seeking out improvement opportunities and leading teams with a relentless focus on improving quality and reducing waste. Follow general safety and compliance with all workplace rules, policies and procedures, i.e. SQF, safety, etc.

    Essential Functions

    Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace and continuously seeking improvement opportunities through system, process, and product audits. Drive Performance Excellence activities as project and/or process lead and identifying and developing teams using leadership competencies and training. Improve the quality of the process, using data collected from the operations, apply problem-solving techniques, and develop quality standards. Serve as liaison between internal and external Customers and Suppliers and write procedures that include selecting and applying correct measuring tools, identifying sampling requirements and statistical measures. Lead projects for improving product quality, productivity and cost utilizing tools such as Six Sigma, statistical process control, value analysis, FMEA, quality at the source and lean principles. Lead problem solving, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns using statistical tools. Evaluates materials and processes with a goal of improving, optimizing, and management and development of Quality Control documentation and standard work instructions. Training of Quality Technicians. The Quality Engineer role is a developmental position intended to develop an individual to be a future leader in the plant. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

    Qualification / Requirement:

    Must have a general understanding of manufacturing, quality, and its processes. This ideal candidate must be willing to constantly challenge the system and have a desire to learn and grow professionally.

    Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, safety shoes, earplugs, cut resistant gloves and high visibility vest, hairnet, and beard net if necessary.

    Essential Skills

    • Written/Verbal Communications Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with others. Must be able to write detailed audit reports and project summaries.

    • Computer Skills: Must have strong working knowledge in Microsoft applications and Compliance Pro.

    • Leadership Skills: Must be a detailed individual with keen focus on accuracy.
