    About you and this role

    Dow has an exciting job opportunity for aR&D Engineering Specialistin thePolyurethane Catalysis and Digital Groupwithin PU Process organization. The catalysis lab conducts experimental research that focus on catalyst discovery, scaleup, process optimization, and modeling that supports various businesses within II&I.

    This role is in the Lake Jackson Texas Innovation Center (TXINN), E.C. Britton building and you will utilize process knowledge and operations experience for safe operation of lab scale equipment, data collection and documentation to support the development of new, sustainable catalyst and process technology. You will engage with external manufacturers and tollers to ensure safe and efficient catalyst manufacturing activities. You will work in diverse teams and require strong communication skills. You will learn and be responsible for lab safety and maintenance activities.

    You need to be a team player, have good prioritization and organizational skills, and demonstrate competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness. An ideal candidate will have 3+ years of demonstrated engineering experience with a desire to apply these concepts to R&D projects and processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Work independently in a laboratory with catalyst synthesis, scale up, analytical testing, and process screening activities.

    • Lead and/or support external catalyst manufacturing and toller activities, including new catalyst trials, process and cost optimization, and technology package development.

    • Lead and/or support projects to scale-up new process technologies.

    • Lead critical improvement activities in our process R&D research that may require capital project planning and engineering designs.

    • Partnering with lab or plant operation personnel to secure process data for identification of technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and project definitions.

    • Drive knowledge exchange with technology experts (plant resources, Technology Center, Engineering Solutions, internal consultant groups, sister plants, local external experts) to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the technology.

    • Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and operating discipline.

    • Ensures safe and efficient operation of laboratory scale equipment. Applies technical proficiency to lead safe and efficient operation of assigned areas.

    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of team alignment with R&D and Business goals.

    • Document research work in CRIs and/or ICDs

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or other engineering-related field

    • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Preferred Skills

    • At least 3 years working experience in engineering-related field that demonstrated application of fundamental principles (mass balance, energy balance, process parameters, governing equations)

    • Good understanding of process Safety Knowledge

    • Experience with catalyst manufacturing and scale up activities
