    We are hiring a R&D Technologist to join our Cleveland, Ohio team.

    This fantastic opportunity is suitable for individuals with strong interest and background in science and engineering. In this role, you will have an opportunity to operate standard and develop new benchtop test equipment/protocols for characterizing a variety of material properties and performance relationships, using good measurement science. You will actively help project teams to plan, execute and analyze experiments and results. On the development side, you will be part of team that implements innovative solutions to expand our metrology capabilities.

    The R&D Technologist must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate activities and results. Such details need to be communicated orally in informal settings, formally documented in reports and on occasion more formally in a presentation format. Organization skills are also critically important to support multiple projects.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    • Learn quickly to become proficient in a wide range of tests and processes.

    • Perform standard testing independently.

    • Accountable for own contributions in a timely manner.

    • Solve simple problems using scientific reasoning.

    • Use hand-held power tools for sample preparation and/or projects involving hardware modification or fabrication.

    • Collect and compile data from tests. Able to check data and flag noteworthy patterns or observations to researcher. Make recommendations to broader project team based on test results.

    • Generate data reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software.

    • Generate formal research reports documenting experimental objectives and procedure and a discussion of the test results and conclusions.

    • Be a thought partner to develop effective test/ process research plan.

    • Collaborate with multifunctional team members.

    • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team and customers.

    • Travel for internal trials or special testing at external sites.

    • Maintain the lab including labeling samples and proper waste disposal.

    • Will be responsible for maintaining, verifying, and calibrating some lab equipment.

    Travel:

    Expected to travel about 5 to 20% of time.

    Qualifications:

    • A self-starter able to manage multiple projects concurrently.

    • Spreadsheet and word processing skills (MS Office).

    • Must have strong time management and organization skills.

    • Motivated to learn and apply new skills.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    • Fluency in English language.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience (1-4 years) in lab analysis/testing environment.

    • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering field.

    • Proficiency in lab testing equipment understanding and being able to troubleshoot issues.

    • Experience with, or knowledge of, electronics.

    • Demonstrated understanding of the good measurement science and scientific method.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work across stakeholders.

    • Statistical analysis skills
