  • I am currently assisting a major hospital network in hiring 15+ Remote Medical Coders. Equipment will not be provided and candidates must have their own device. These coders will be hired to assist the team in a high volume of inpatient and hospital cases. Positions are contract openings. Potential to convert to permanent employment is only available to select states.

    Candidates CANNOT reside in the following states: CO, HI, MA, NY, OH, PA

    States eligible for permanent hiring post contract: AK, CA, MT, NM, OR, TX, WA

    All other states not listed above are eligible for contract openings

    Pay range is determined by state as well as experience level.

    Description

    • Inpatient Medical coder will Review inpatient medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.

    • This process ensures accurate reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs.

    • Applies ICD-10/CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes to medical records based on documentation provided by physicians.

    • Adheres to strict federal coding rules in selecting codes that appropriately reflect the condition, which the patient had, and the care that was provided.

    • Abstracts clinical and statistical information for outcome measure and monitoring.

    • Serves as a lead role by assisting other areas in the hospital in the review, corrections, and rebills of coded accounts.

    • Reviews and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate coding.

    • Assigns appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.

    • Collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when necessary.

    • Maintains compliance with federal coding rules and guidelines.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient (Hospital) medical coding.

    • Candidates with Ambulatory or outpatient experience is also a plus

    • Proficiency in assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient diagnoses and procedures.

    • Familiarity with CPT codes.

    • Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology.

    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification

    • Excellent observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

    Education Preferred

    Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Health, Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field.

    Certifications Preferred

    Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
