MLive seeks a news reporter who will focus on covering the Muskegon community, a Lake Michigan beach town experiencing a downtown revival and home to high-interest news stories. To be considered for this position, you must have:

• Ability to identify and develop important stories that resonate with everyday residents.

• A willingness to ask the tough questions and being curious about what's happening in the Muskegon community.

• Ability to tell stories in smart and engaging ways and a willingness to experiment with different storytelling forms.

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn new tools and software, including our content management system for publishing stories and photographs.

• Two years or more of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing.

• Ability to work independently and remotely.

• This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources and cover events.
