    The Research Assistant in Project Execution help with planting, irrigation, fertilization, discarding materials and other greenhouse and field related tasks to meet the quality, quantity, and timeline targets for project deliverables. They should be comfortable using computers and mobile devices and interested in working both indoors and in the field. Most importantly, they need a collaborative attitude, good communication and critical thinking skills, and a commitment to quality. They may be asked to serve as a crew lead, which entails supervising contingent workers.

    The Research Assistant will be responsible for helping to supervise the daily operation in the designed tasks in the greenhouses prioritizing the safety.

    What You'll Do:

    • Perform all tasks associated with the year-round production of high-quality seed in sufficient quantities, which may include:

    • Seedlings irrigation and fertilization.

    • Seeds and plantlets sow.

    • Plants selection, planting, transplanting, data collection and data management.

    • Observing condition of plants in growing in structures, interpreting, and reporting any abnormalities.

    • Taking notes and collecting data into official systems on time ensuring data quality.

    • Follow all stablished standard operational procedures (SOP) and regulatory rules with a high level of attention to detail.

    • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with experiment instructions, research protocols, company policies, and regulations.

    • Communicate regularly and openly with the team and supervisors about workflow and experiment status, especially when there are questions or problems.

    • Complete routine and moderately complex duties without instruction in a timely manner and apply judgment to resolve any roadblocks to completion.

    • Help produce and use labels, envelopes, row tags, sample tags and selection tags for plants.

    • Participate in protocol development and process improvement programs (safety, efficiency, effectiveness).

    • Support all Salinas, Puerto Rico Research Center-wide goals, and initiatives. Interact and assist other projects at the location as needed.

    • Promote positive work attitudes and harmonious relations.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • You have minimum education of a Bachelor's Degree in agriculture or related fields

    • Two years of related experience

    What Skills You Need

    • Willing and able to lift and carry 20-50 lbs of weight.

    • Willing and able to complete repetitive motions with wrists and hands, stand, walk for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch with or without reasonable accommodations.

    • Willing and able to work in warm conditions and in variable environments, including partially enclosed structures.

    • Ability to read and communicate in Spanish and work in a team of diverse cultural backgrounds.

    • Ability to read and communicate in English.

    • Basic mathematics and computer skills are required.

    • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle required.

    • Willing and able to work overtime/weekend/holidays when needed.

    What Makes You Stand Out

    • Ag, Greenhouse and/or biology experience

    • Basic computer literacy for printing or using mobile devices (e.g., iPods).

    • Ability to operate forklift.

    • Willing and able to be a pesticide handler.

    This role will be on-site at the Corteva location.
