    Description of Work Unit

    The Department of Chemistry has an international reputation for excellence in research across a broad array of disciplines, including analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, materials and physical chemistry.     Position Summary

    The Department of Chemistry seeks applications throughout the academic year from individuals who are interested in obtaining temporary or special research positions within the department in the areas of analytical, biological, chemistry education, inorganic, materials, organic, or physical chemistry. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.

    Level Iis an entry-level position for individuals with a bachelor's degree and generally with less than three years of professional, post-baccalaureate experience.

    Level IIincludes individuals with a bachelor's degree and more than three years of relevant professional experience, or a recent master's degree, and no other significant professional experience.

    Level III includes individuals with a bachelor's degree and five years of work-related experience, or a master's degree with at least two years of experience.

    Level IVincludes individuals with a bachelor's degree and ten years of work-related experience, or a master's degree with more than five years of experience.

    Senior Research Associateincludes individuals with extensive post-baccalaureate experience, or a master's degree and significant professional experience.

    Ranking and qualifications within these levels are done on a case-by-case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience.
