    A.T. Still University's Still Research Institute (ATSRI) and the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH) seek an exempt Research Scientist on the St. Louis, Missouri, campus. This position is to support and promote clinical and translational research and quality projects/activities within the ATSRI Center for Oral Health Research and MOSDOH, in alignment with ATSU's social mission and scholarly strategic planning areas (e.g., oral public health, social determinants of health, community health research, health equity research, qualitative/survey research, clinical trials, discovery research, etc.). To this end, they will assist in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of oral health research and quality improvement outcomes, as well as MOSDOH grant-funded initiatives.

    Major Job Duties:

    • Responsible for day-to-day coordination of basic and clinical outcomes investigations organized and relevant to dental school.

    • Identify, develop, and implement quality improvement/research studies to advance MOSDOH mission and vision.

    • Monitor recruitment and retention of research subjects.

    • Provide and support research data handling functions such as collection, quality monitoring, data cleaning, extraction, analysis, and interpretation of results.

    • Schedule research protocol activities.

    • Coordinate start-up activities for clinical research protocols.

    • Assist with the management of fiscal and physical research resources.

    • Assist researchers in the preparation and submission of progress reports and financial status reports.

    • Assist in research/programmatic grant proposal development and implementation in oral health.

    • Monitor grant activities for timeliness and appropriateness/accuracy.

    • Collaborate with team members and support teams.

    • Supervise summer interns assigned to MOSDOH.

    • Write research papers and present results to senior staff or other research teams.

    • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

    • Adhere to workplace safety and environmental practices.

    • Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.

    • Serve as PI of external (and internal) grant-funded research and innovation initiatives, including salary coverage.

    • Collaborate on other faculty research projects/initiatives.

    • Assisted in research dissemination, including oral presentations, posters, and manuscript preparation, as well as assisting with MOSDOH research events.

    • Assist with instructional and other research mentoring duties.

    • Serve as a member of the ATSRI and other ATSU committees as assigned

    • Explore/recommend research educational opportunities (e.g., Research Distinction tracks) for MOSDOH students.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Ensure that the goals, objectives, and activities related to quality and research projects are achieved and evaluated in a timely manner.

    • Organize/facilitate appropriate planning, development, and implementation of assigned grant and scholarly activities.

    • Record keeping and reporting responsibilities for individual research & records of research completed for assigned projects.

    • May be assigned to other institutional activities/committees in relation to research development and implementation, as necessary.

    Judgment/Decision Making

    • Data management and research protocol monitoring.

    • Coordination of research activities with principal investigators of research projects across departments and schools.

    • Comply with federal, state, and private funding agency research requirements.

    Work Location

    • Residential- Will support onsite research activities on the ATSU St. Louis, MO campus.

    Education/Experience

    • PhD/doctorate in oral health or other health professions.

    • 3-5 years experience working with students and faculty in all aspects of designing, implementing, and disseminating research findings.

    • Proven track record of publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.

    Skill Requirements

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Computer literate, and familiar with program evaluation techniques and budget management.

    • Excellent communicator and able to interact well with faculty, students, and possibly patients, including those with special needs, and their caregivers.
