  • Job Summary:

    The Subject Matter Expert will support database administration of a TDSSe2 project. We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable S1000D Expert to join our team. The S1000D Expert will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, implementation, and optimization of the S1000D standard within our organization. This individual will possess a deep understanding of S1000D specifications, data modules, and the associated documentation processes. The S1000D Expert will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline technical documentation processes, improve data quality, and enhance overall product supportability.

    • S1000D Implementation: Lead the implementation and maintenance of the S1000D standard within the organization, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.

    • Data Module Management: Create, manage, and maintain S1000D data modules, including XML authoring, tagging, and revision control.

    • Documentation Development: Collaborate with technical writers and subject matter experts to create S1000D-compliant technical documentation, including manuals, user guides, and maintenance instructions.

    • Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and consistency of S1000D data modules and associated documentation, performing regular quality checks and audits.

    • S1000D Training: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on S1000D principles, processes, and tools to promote understanding and compliance.

    • Information Exchange: Facilitate effective information exchange between various departments, suppliers, and customers by implementing standardized S1000D formats and data exchange protocols.

    • Tool Selection and Optimization: Evaluate, select, and implement S1000D authoring and publishing tools to streamline the documentation workflow and maximize efficiency.

    • Version Control: Manage version control for S1000D data modules and ensure proper archiving and retrieval mechanisms are in place.

    • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the S1000D framework and lead initiatives to implement changes.

    • Documentation Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire documentation lifecycle, from creation and revision to publication and retirement, while ensuring compliance with S1000D standards.

    • Troubleshooting: Address and resolve issues related to S1000D data modules, software tools, and document rendering.

    • Stay Informed: Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements, and updates related to S1000D standards and best practices.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

    • Accredited bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

    • Experience troubleshooting S1000D publishing issues.

    • Experience implementing new XML conversion projects in MIL-STD-3048, S1000D Issue 4.0 and above through the development of planning phases, analysis of data, project setup, creation of pubs plan, S1000D project business rule and Business Rule EXchange (BREX) updates.

    • Experience contributing to the creation of automated methods of operation developed to overcome limitations encountered within traditional S1000D Common Source DataBase (CSDB) capabilities is preferred but not required.

    • Extensive knowledge of Applicability Cross-reference Table (ACT), Conditions Cross-reference Table (CCT), and Product Cross-reference Table (PCT).

    • Experience working with DoD customers is preferred but not required.

    • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

    • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent organizational skills, adept at managing competing priorities and initiating projects

    • Dependable attendance.

    • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person status.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time, review information on a computer screen and be able to withstand repetitive motion (up to 10 hours a day with lunch and breaks). The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and standard office equipment and ability to work in excess of a 40-hour week if necessary.

    Office Location and Travel

    This position is located in Oklahoma City, OK

    Travel will not be required.

    Working Environment & Conditions

    This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
