    Description:

    Part-time Sacramental Priest (20 hours a week) to share the sacraments, lead mass, and provide communion to patients.

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Provides sacramental ministries of the Roman Catholic Church to Catholic patients, visitors, and staff as a member of the Spiritual Care Service or Department.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

    • Provides assessment of sacramental needs and priestly interventions primarily in connection with the sacramental ministries of the Roman Catholic Church, especially the Sacramental Anointing of the Sick.

    • May document priestly sacramental interventions provided on behalf of patients and visitors of patients.

    • Facilitates the appropriate involvement of and ministry to patient's visitors during priestly sacramental ministry. Maintains an effective working relationship with parish priests, other clergy, and hospital chaplains.

    • May provide sacramental ministry to hospital staff as appropriate.

    • May celebrate the Roman Catholic Mass for the Catholic Community.

    • May participate in ensuring 24-hour/seven day per week on call for emergency sacramental needs.

    • May provide consultation on sacramentally related matters concerning the care of patients, visitors, and staff as needed.

    • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, families, and staff. Discusses patient and hospital information only as allowed per organizational policy.

    • Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.

    • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be an ordained Roman Catholic priest in good standing, who enjoys the faculties of a Catholic Bishop, with Permission to Minister granted by the Catholic Bishop of the relevant local Diocese for sacramental, pastoral ministry. Master of Divinity or equivalent degree.

    • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to relate well with individual persons and in order to interact effectively in ministry.

    • Must have the ability to provide ministry in the context of an ecumenical team ministry and maintain a flexible work schedule.

    • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

    • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.

    • Must be able to travel with a local community across a continuum of care to the various Trinity Health sites (10-50%) as needed.

    • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
