    Robert Half is seeking a Systems Security Engineer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

    The Systems Security Engineer will be responsible for security administration of the districts servers (including all virtual machines), Identification Access Systems (controller's), operating systems, educational software, and cloud-based software solutions that run on said servers), security servers (including camera hookups and camera positioning), computer systems (including Chromebooks), and various other electronic aids (i.e., smartboards, document camera's, etc.). This includes being the point of contact for security checks on all new possible software purchases where security is concerned, hardware purchases associated with the districts security systems) and installation and implementation of same, once approved by the Head of Technology.

    Security Systems Engineer- Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Promotes an environment/climate conducive to productive performance.

    Plans for and manages the resources for which he/she is responsible, including personnel, finances, facilities, programs, and time.

    Communicates accurately and effectively to all staff.

    Uses Professional evaluations to improve security

    Provides for the design, installation, setup, management, repair and support of the district's data, phone, and video networks (this includes security).

    Provides training for the data, phone, and video networks (this includes security).

    Provides for the installation, setup, repair, and support of owned devices and software where security is concerned.

    Creates, Maintains, and Administers the syslog server.

    Instructs personnel as needed in the use of hardware and software for various electronic pieces of equipment.

    Maintains Financial system access controls (Account Creation/Deletion, Password Resets, and removal of access levels).

    Facilitate repairs of district owned security equipment.

    Maintain intranet and district websites security.

    Assist district staff with quotes for security technology purchases.

    Develop departmental security procedures.

    Assists with technology maintenance/support and renewals where security is concerned.

    Helps prepare documentation and filing for E-Rate funding annually where security devices and software is concerned.

    Helps prepare the Technology Plan.

    Assists with the AS400 operations and its network connections.

    Travels to various server sites to provide maintenance as needed.

    Provides security training for district security tools and programs.

    Provides support for the investigation of improper use of the district's electronic devices, networks, e-mail, and internet services.

    Must be willing to be on call 24/7 365 as needed for security challenges.

    All other functions as determined by the Head of Technology.

    Requirements

    The successful Systems Security Engineer will have

    High School diploma or equivalent.

    Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, infrastructure security engineering, or similar discipline.

    Professional certification may be used in lieu of a Bachelor's degree at the sole discretion of the Head of Technology (i.e., Microsoft Certified Systems Administers (MCSA)/Engineer (MCSE), Certified Systems Administrator (CSA),

    Windows Server Enterprise Administrator (MCITP), and etc.).

    Preferred

    Masters degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or similar discipline.

    8 Years of experience working with Microsoft Networks across Local Area Networks (LANS), Wide Area Networks (WANS), and Metropolitan Area Networks (MANS)

    Experience with database management software (i.e., MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.).

    Networks utilizing TCP/IP and various other protocols.

    Knowledge of Unix system administration.

    Background required prior to employment.
