    Position Summary

    The individual will be r esponsible for building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with regulators, business partners, logistics service providers, and customers in the West Division including Latin America and has a deep understanding of fuel supply and marketing related business, financials, and overall refined products energy markets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for the acquisition of other companies' transportation or manufacturing assets; oversees and coordinates preparation of economic analysis and studies to determine feasibility.

    • Uses scenario planning techniques to predict changes in external influences such as marketplace, customer needs, government policy, technology, and competitor actions when making acquisitions, upgrades, joint interest, and strategy recommendations.

    • Evaluates a wide range of business development opportunities across organizational lines; pursues opportunities with other companies and conducts negotiations as required.

    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of business issues, constraints, applicable regulations, and MPC industry positioning. Stays abreast and informed of Refining, SD&P, T&L, and Marketing issues. Responsible for tying together these organizational initiatives into a cohesive format with an overall company perspective.

    • Understands political effects on the energy sector as well as appropriately represents Company in government and business matters, keeping abreast of Federal and State legislative, regulatory, environmental, cultural, social, financial, economic, political and business sector's information.

    • Observes and reports on competitive activities, new investments, promotions, and pricing.

    • Contributes to the Clean Products Value Chain commercial strategy development and implementation, with a focus on making the link between the MPC US refining centers and respective product markets including international.

    • Timely manages deal and contract negotiations from initiation to execution.

    • Effectively coordinate across trading, structuring, legal, market and credit risk functions to price and execute structured transactions.

    • Studies, analyzes, and reports on local economic and business environment, as well as market/competitor trends to proactively identify business threats and opportunities.

    • Serves as subject matter expert concerning market flows and the physical and operational characteristics of the logistics supply systems.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, marketing, or related field required; MBA preferred.

    • Minimum 10 or more years of experience working in energy markets required, downstream energy experience preferred.

    • Minimum 5 years of experience negotiating contracts, including proven record of managing multi-year commodities contracts required.

    • Fluency in Spanish (both spoken & written) required.

    • Ability to travel within the United States as well as other countries, up to 25%.
