    Job Summary:

    The Senior Manager, Benefits is responsible for planning and directing the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's health and welfare, absence management, and retirement benefit programs. The Senior Manager will ensure that programs support the company's strategic objectives, are internally equitable and externally competitive, and adhere to current regulations. The Senior Manager, Benefits reports to the Sr. Director, HR Integrations & Total Rewards.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Designs, develops, implements, and administers the company's health and welfare and retirement benefits programs (medical, Rx, vision, dental, life, AD&D, FSA, disability, absence management, and defined contribution programs).

    • Evaluates benefit plans based on industry trends to ensure a competitive benefit offering to attract and retain the best talent and create value.

    • Manages the Company's benefit plans with proper financial controls, accurate records, and compliant procedures (including leading the annual audit of plans).

    • Supports the Company's mergers and acquisitions due diligence and integration activities.

    • Ensures benefits programs are consistently administered in compliance with policies and government regulations; submits all required state and federal filings.

    • Manages all facets of open enrollment, including design, approval, implementation, communications, and coordination of Associate elections.

    • Leads the preparation of year-round Associate communications and oversees the response to inquiries, etc.

    • Works collaboratively with Finance and Legal stakeholders to ensure sound financial, legal and compliance controls are understood and in place.

    • Leads the benefits team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.

    • Manages benefits vendors and consultants to ensure plan effectiveness and efficient issue resolution

    • Leads benefits-related vendor searches and contract negotiations.

    • Collaborates with HRIS to implement Workday and ensure optimal program administration.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree required; applicable certification is a plus.

    • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in a dedicated HR role, with at least five (5) years focused primarily on Benefits design and administration.

    • Experience administering Benefits using Workday.

    • Must be well-versed in Benefits and regulatory requirements across the US, with experience working in a multi-state environment.

    • Strong aptitude for understanding business needs and creating programs to meet those business objectives.

    • Demonstrated use of change management techniques

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong analytic, quantitative, advance computer skills, especially with MS Excel.

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills required.

    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work within a rapidly changing environment.

    • Self-starter with a high level of persistence and strong results focus.

    • Demonstrated strong collaboration and project management skills.

    • Detail oriented, highly organized, and proactive

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

    • Potential for up to 10-20% domestic travel, as required

    Office:

    • Remote and office based in downtown Chicago

    • Location: This position offers a flexible remote/hybrid work arrangement for candidates that are able to travel into the Chicago, IL office as needed.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Majority (90%) of work is conducted indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
