This site manufactures Medtronic ExtraCorporeal Life Support (ECLS) and ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) products including Nautilus TM Oxygenators, Crescent ® Jugular Dual Lumen Catheter, Crescent ® RA Right Atrial Catheter, and the VitalFlow ECLS System for our Cardiac Surgery (CS) portfolio.

    In this exciting role as Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will work with a team to design, develop, fabricate, and qualify new and improved equipment and automation used in the manufacture of life saving ECLS devices. These product lines and supporting systems are growing at an accelerated rate and require innovation for greater process efficiency, safety, speed, and quality. The operations group seeks candidates who are intuitive problem solvers and driven to succeed. This role reports to the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

    A Day in the Life

    • Research, plans, designs, verifies, validates, and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical equipment and systems, such as instruments, controls, robots, and machines for production.

    • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional team to identify process improvement opportunities.

    • Identify process improvement opportunities including new fixturing, equipment, and inspection solutions.

    • Designs arrangement of machines within cleanroom facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

    • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

    • Manage project timelines and scope, communicating changes and challenges to key stakeholders.

    • Sustain current production through day to day support.

    • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

    • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

    • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors degree required

    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience preferably in Medical Device, Pharma, or Biotechnology Manufacturing Environments

    Nice to Have

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, such as Mechanical or Electromechanical, or bachelor's degree in technical discipline (science or math fields) required.

    • 4 years relevant experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry. Or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

    • Experience handling multiple tasks concurrently

    • Experience managing project timelines, budgets and resource allocations.

    • Good communication skills (both written and interpersonal). Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment to achieve results

    • Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing and/or combination products.

    • Excellent data analysis skills, and proficient in the use of statistical tools in problem solving

    • Expert in continuous improvement programs such as LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma.

    • Experienced designer of equipment, processes, and controls of complex assembly processes.

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
