The Vision Pro Freeform Team is looking for an experienced software engineer to apply their lower-level systems expertise to enable delightful app experiences. As a senior member of our team, you will be instrumental in expanding and building new Freeform functionality that takes advantage of Vision Pro's unique capabilities. You will collaborate extensively with frameworks and systems teams across Apple. You will architect large-scale changes to enable new functionality and debug complex technical problems, frequently into lower-level system frameworks.

    Key Qualifications

    • Typically requires 10+ years of experience shipping software systems or applications, preferably on Apple platforms (macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS).

    • Deep experience with Apple's core programming languages (Objective-C, Swift, C++), UI frameworks (UIKit, SwiftUI) and other application development technologies.

    • Excitement to solve complex full-stack engineering challenges by understanding the internals of lower level system components and frameworks.

    • Experience with multi-threaded and concurrent programming techniques

    • Ability to mentor and guide others.

    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, deeply cross functional, and agile environment.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Description

    Apple Vision Pro's spatial computing capabilities enables powerful new capabilities for great productivity experiences anywhere. As part of Apple's Vision Products Group, you will work closely across different organizations within Apple to craft the next generation of features & capabilities for Apple Freeform on visionOS. This team works on visionOS-unique capabilities of the Freeform product. We are looking for an engineer who will thrive in a highly cross-functional environment, driving and delivering leading edge features while upholding the quality and performance bar required of Apple products. You will be a technical leader to a team that works with a broad range of partners and lower-level system software to enable Apple Freeform features, while also guiding and mentoring the talented engineers on the team.

    Education & Experience

    BS / MS / PhD in Computer Science OR equivalent experience.

    Additional Requirements

    • An interest and passion in spatial computing or AR/VR technologies.

    • Optional: Experience with 3D math and linear algebra.

    • Optional: Experience managing projects and engineering teams in a tech lead capacity.

    • Optional: Experience working with designers to deliver user-facing features.

    • Optional: Experience with Unix development, daemons, cross-process communication, etc.

    • Optional: Affinity towards modern software development methodologies and practices (TDD, Source Control, Debugging, etc.) and willingness to evangelize within and outside the team.

    Pay & Benefits

    • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
