    Work Style Environment:

    This position will follow one of our hybrid work style models;

    • We expect candidates to be two days in-office and three days work-from-home at either of our St. Petersburg, FL, or Southfield, MI, office locations.

    • This role may have the potential for remote work, contingent upon the candidate's experience.

    Job Summary

    The Sr. Systems Automation Engineer works with IT Architecture to understand future system state and system owners to clarify monitoring requirements. They research monitoring tools to drive tool rationalization and more complete monitoring coverage. This engineer leads efforts to implement new features and upgrades. They collaborate with teams throughout IT to ensure that the monitoring system is used and understood. They will also be reviewing processes to determine areas where automation can be used to remove toil and add efficiency and stability by designing, developing, and deploying automated processes, removing the necessity for human intervention.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manages the evaluation and implementation of new products and technologies, which typically cover a wide variety of enterprise-class infrastructure disciplines.

    • Researches and recommends innovative technologies and approaches for enterprise infrastructure management, upgrades, or improvements while adhering to technical or budgetary constraints.

    • Analyzes system requirements, including identifying interactions and appropriate interfaces between affected components and sub-systems.

    • Proactively plans the capacity of platforms and applications.

    • Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine software and hardware configuration.

    • Participates in software system testing, validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

    • May participate in projects including preparing project plans, assigning tasks, monitoring statuses, coordinating efforts, validating team recommendations, integrating efforts into a comprehensive strategy, and delivering results on time.

    • Writes and/or reviews system specifications, including output requirements, flow charts, and technical diagrams.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Technical Knowledge of

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience in an assigned area or combination of education, experience, and training. Incumbents may be required to work a non-traditional schedule, including on-call hours on a frequent or rotating basis.

    • Knowledge of the following strongly preferred (depending on assigned area):

    • IP network design practices and principles.

    • Windows Server and Workstation Operating Systems.

    • Intel-based hardware configurations and components for desktops and servers.

    • Security best practices for Windows-based systems, including PKI principles and components.

    • Microsoft Active Directory architecture.

    • Storage Area Network technologies.

    • Messaging concepts and components, including SMTP mail, web-based mail, and Instant Messaging.

    • Backup and restore technologies.

    • System monitoring and event analysis.

    • Virtualization concepts and technologies.

    • Other assigned area knowledge and systems.

    • Has working knowledge of various programming languages.
