  • Job Description

    This position is responsible for designing, supporting, managing and maintaining all aspects of the server and storage infrastructure. This includes physical stand-alone servers and blade chassis servers, storage devices from multiple vendors, connectivity between servers and storage with Fiber Channel, iSCSI and NFS, replication and snapshot technologies and virtualization technologies from multiple vendors, backup and recovery strategy and software. This position engages in architecture definition, assists with budgets and vendor management, planning, technology direction, project management as well as mentoring of team members.

    This position reports to the Director, IT and allows you the flexibility to work from your home office.

    As the Server Engineer II, you will have an opportunity to:

    • Work closely with clients and with other system groups to capture business requirements and project scope; setting team's priorities and deliverables to best serve the overall business's objectives

    • Design, test, and maintain server and storage systems, replication and backups

    • Develop technology roadmaps

    • Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose problems.

    • Solve complex problems with many variables

    • Reporting system status to key stakeholders

    • Participate in regular on-call rotation

    • Manage team performance and the flow of day-to-day operations

    • Provide reporting of team performance and activities as necessary

    • Provide written project scope & updates on key projects to management

    • Manage change control documentation and supporting requirements as needed

    • Facilitate internal and external audit and provides supporting documentation as required

    • Lead, track and support Continuous Improvement opportunities

    • Other activities as required to support the IT department or business initiatives of the company

    • Assist with designing, planning, and installing new and expanded camera systems, preparing and updating system configuration documentation as appropriate.

    • Ensure Video Surveillance equipment quality of images and recordings, validating minimum desired recording history is maintained.

    • Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

    • Coordinate and oversee vendors and suppliers of parts and services.

    • Performs system software and firmware upgrades as required.

    • Maintain inventory of critical need spare equipment and parts.

    You have:

    • Bachelor's degree in IT or AS degree or equivalent experience.

    • In-depth knowledge of server architecture, HDD technologies and RAID

    • In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies for servers

    • Technical knowledge and experience in support of global enterprise solutions

    • Exceptional problem troubleshooting skillset

    • In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery and replication technologies/strategy

    • Ability to work independently and with a team to achieve team objectives

    • Ability to handle stressful situations as a senior contact and decision maker on long term server and storage design

    • Sound knowledge of the software and hardware used in the server and storage systems and well- acquainted with the advanced technologies

    • NetApp and VMWare experience desirable

    • Ability to use the available resources wisely and establish efficient and supportable systems

    • Capacity to regularly update knowledge about the new and advanced technologies available in the market and use these technologies in the designs

    • Project implementation management experience

    • Expertise with impacting policies, programs and long-range goals and objectives of the company and the team

    • Written and verbal skills to document and present requirements to business and technical teams along with cost-benefit analysis and business impact analysis

    You might have:

    • Ability to perform system software and firmware upgrades as required

    • Responsibility to maintain inventory of critical need spare equipment and parts

    Pay Range:

    $63,400.00 - $95,000.00

    The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
