    Team or Function Overview

    This position will be on the Mt. Vernon, Indiana commercial plant operations team, located about 20 miles west of Evansville, along the Ohio River. The GAF TPO Facility in Mount Vernon was founded in 2000 and produces TPO roofing systems in a very clean, state-of-the-art facility. Short for thermoplastic polyolefin, TPO is a single-ply roofing membrane that offers excellent performance at a cost-effective price. In the 20+ years that TPO has been in the field, it's become one of the most popular products used for low-slope roofing.

    Summary

    The Shipping Lead is responsible for ensuring his/her crew is able to ship all customer orders accurately and timely while adapting to changes and requests throughout each day. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities. The Shipping Lead provides consistent direction to his/her employees, and coordinates back-up and support for all logistics functions related to TPO shipments both inbound and outbound as well as all receiving duties, daily. The Shipping Lead also assigns inventory count team members as required for cycle counts at all of the plants on site and off site warehousing as well in addition to assigning daily work to team members. The Shipping Lead will be able to effectively step in and perform any of the individual jobs in the department, in the absence of other team members.

    Compensation

    36.99/Hour + full benefits on day 1!

    Essential Duties

    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Coaching team members on safety and processes, with regular follow-up to ensure standards are being met.

    • Some drivers are not bilingual; ability to communicate effectively with diverse driver base

    • Shipping Lead must have the ability to plan ahead and prioritize LTL's and small packages so they are ready to go when each driver arrives.

    • On deliveries, he/she is the responsible person to collect BOL, packing slips and/or invoices for every shipment received. Shipping Lead will verify quantities, and continue to teach other crew members to count and verify receivables as well. Correct data will be entered into PeopleSoft, Maximo and/or other applicable systems.

    • Shipping Lead will answer and delegate all radio transmissions for receiving. This includes facilitating incoming trucks, shipments, and directing them to which door to go.

    • Shipping Lead coordinates all outbound trucks, orders, load types and correct door based on order number and load type. All orders are categorized based on product mix and delegated to location along with a Shipper/Receiver to load.

    • Shipping Lead is responsible to determine in advance when a load will be varied due ~~~/shewillfollowthroughtocompletethe documentation process, to ensure WMS quantities are correct and match customer billing.

    • Maintain email communication throughout the day to stay immediately aware of emergencies, order changes, new LTL's, and other Customer Care needs and demands.

    • Ensure truck drivers understand correct tarping, strapping, edge protectors and all loading procedures. Shipping Lead will confirm appointment time with driver and collect executed Job Site Form, if applicable, along with Bills of Lading documents.

    • Throughout the day, will keep CarrierPoint updated, tracking inbounds and outbounds, including tracking pallets shipped and received.

    • Provide direction to production in order to instruct where FG or Raw material will be staged and use the production plan to determine the best location to prevent delays in outbound loading on future shipments. The shipping lead does this by analyzing the production plans for the coming days and reviewing against upcoming shipments.

    • Work closely with Shipping & Warehouse Manager and provide back-up cover when necessary

    • Prepare daily work assignments by reviewing and printing pick slips, transfer tickets, etc.

    • Process paperwork for shipments, including BOL, packing slip and depletion

    • Follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipments

    • Post receipts for deliveries both for onsite deliveries as well as at our growing offsite warehouses, including PeopleSoft and Maximo and communicate with our warehouse partners offsite.

    • DispatchordersforTRUCKS,LTL's,SMPKG,andCONTAINERshipments

    • Process system for LTL's and SM PKG through associated carrier systems

    • Process export documents against shipping guidelines

    • Process RMA paperwork and dispatch Carrier for pickup

    • Lead cycle count process and manage Shipper/Receivers time to count: raw materials and finished goods

    • Lead off site warehouse count process with Shipper/Receivers

    • RelieveShipper/Receiversasneededforbreaksandlunches

    • Coordinate projects with Shipping & Warehouse Manager to ensure the overall productivity of the crew

    • Assume leadership with the Shipping & Warehouse Manager in Safety and Housekeeping throughout each shift

    • Unload/load trucks when needed; other duties as assigned

    TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

    • Ability to provide positive leadership and motivation for his/her crew

    • Coach team members on errors to limit recurring errors as well as coaching team members on being part of the team

    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve logistics, carrier and customer challenges

    • Proficiency in Google Suite, including regular email correspondence

    • Familiar with standard warehouse concepts, practices and procedures

    • Proven ability to teach and train other employees on processes and procedures

    • Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery. Required to climb in and out of and operate industrial forklifts

    • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading

    • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Higher education in the field of logistics, warehousing and transportation industry is a plus

    • 2+yearsexperienceinafastpaced,shippingandwarehouseenvironment

    • Experience safely operating forklifts is required

    • Ability to work independently and maintain high level of self-motivation

    • Computer proficiency is required. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, Peoplesoft, and Carrierpoint is preferred

    • Ability to communicate, both written and orally, in English is required
