    Sonographer - Women's Specialty Care

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Sonographer - Women's Specialty

    Care performs diagnostic sonographic imaging of fetal and maternal anatomy,

    urinary and gynecologic anatomy or any other diagnostic studies as deemed

    necessary by the physician for interpretation and/or intervention. This individual assists the perinatologist,

    urogyncologist and/or other physician specialist in patient care and

    procedures.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Delivers

    appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful

    completion of procedures.

    • Assesses

    the patient's physical condition and age specific needs.

    • Provides

    instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.

    • Acquires

    patient's clinical history and provide accurate documentation for invasive

    procedures.

    • Documents

    patient weight, blood pressure and other pertinent information depending on

    patient status.

    • Assesses

    sonographic images for technical quality, proper annotation and patient

    identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.

    Maternal

    Fetal Sonographers:

    a.

    Knowledge

    of perinatal ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such

    as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.

    b.

    Ability

    to perform fetal Doppler studies, 3D/4D image rendering, fetal echocardiography

    and nuchal translucency screening.

    c.

    Ability

    to analyze fetal anatomy in all stages of gestation for anomalies and fetal

    well being.

    d.

    Ability

    to appropriately image the maternal reproductive anatomy for anomalies

    including transvaginal ultrasound.

    e.

    Experience

    with ultrasound Electronic Medical Record Systems such as AS Systems is

    desired.

    Urogynocology

    Songraphers:

    a. Knowledge of urogynocology ultrasound

    procedures focusing on pelvic floor studies which may include invasive

    procedures.

    b. Ability

    to perform urodynamic studies independently.

    c. Proficient

    knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems including the extrapolation and

    inclusion of procedural studies in an efficient manner.

    Other

    Specialized Sonographers:

    a.

    Knowledge

    of specific specialty ultrasound procedural needs with experience in invasive

    procedures.

    b.

    Ability

    to perform clinically focused studies independently as deemed necessary by

    physician.

    c.

    Proficient

    knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems with the ability to capture all

    clinical diagnostic information in a seamless manner.

    PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Must

    be able to sit 60% of the time; Able to walk, climb, stand, turn, twist, bend,

    stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least 25 lbs, carry, finger, hold, talk, see with

    a good field of vision, and hear; Communicate on the telephone and directly

    with patients; read paperwork, printouts and computer screens; Requires manual

    dexterity sufficient to maintain files, operate a keyboard, calculator,

    telephone, copier and other small desk equipment and computer.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    1.

    High

    School graduate or equivalent is required.

    2.

    Graduate

    of an accredited school of sonography.

    3.

    Minimum

    3 years of experience in either obstetric and perinatal sonography,

    urogynocology sonography and/or other specialized diagnostic studies is preferred. A history of working with a Maternal Fetal

    Medicine Specialist, Urogynocologist and/or other specialty trained physicians

    in the past is preferred.

    4.

    Demonstrates

    ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending

    English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

    CERIFICATE/LICENSE

    Registered

    by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is

    required.

    Nuchal

    Translucency NTQR Certified is preferred for Maternal Fetal Medicine

    Sonographers

    BLS

    required.
