    Qualifications

    Education Associate's Degree Health Information Services or related field REQUIRED orAssociate's Degree 2 Years Coding experience in lieu of degree REQUIRED

    Experience 3 Years Coding in an acute care setting REQUIRED and2 Years Performing interventional radiology and/or day surgery coding preferred

    Licenses and Certifications RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator 12 Months REQUIRED orRHIT - Registered Health Information Technician 12 Months REQUIRED orCCS - Certified Coding Specialist 12 Months REQUIRED orCCA - Certified Coding Associate 12 Months REQUIRED orCPC - Certified Professional Coder 12 Months REQUIRED orOther CVIRCC 12 Months REQUIRED

    Skills Proficient in coding and billing software applications. Thorough knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PC. Expert knowledge of CPT. Expert in coding convention/automated encoder. Expert knowledge of NCCI/OCE billing edits. Knowledgeable in all regulatory/payer requirements associated with coding and documentation. Strong knowledge of charge master codes and processes. Strong research capabilities. Demonstrates strong decision making, problem solving and advanced critical thinking skills. Demonstrates clear and concise oral and written communication skills. Personal initiative to keep abreast of new developments in coding updates technology, research and regulatory data. Ability to successfully adjust to changing priorities and work volumes. Successfully completed AHIMA ICD 10 training courses.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Accurately codes interventional radiology and surgical outpatient records.

    • Reconciles charges and coding discrepancies between HIS coding and clinical department.

    • Assists the management team with Fiscal Management of coding resources and processes.

    • Maintains frequent and regular contact with supervisor and seeks consultation and guidance when appropriate.

    • Participates in personal annual performance evaluation, providing opportunity for growth and development.

    • Consistently abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the AHIMA and adheres to official coding guidelines.
