  • GENERAL PURPOSE

    Provides services to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in children and/or adult population.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Performs and interprets speech and language evaluations for both patients with communicative disorders and those requiring more specialized care, such as patients with dysphagia, laryngectomy and aphasia.

    • Plans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results. Develops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients including Plans of Care.

    • Provides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s). Adapts existing resources to meet patient and caregiver needs.

    • Maintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient. Communicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools. Recommends changes in standard departmental practices.

    • Works collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines. Conducts clinical teaching with medical students and undergraduate/graduate students from various colleges/universities. Provides education and in-services to hospital faculty and staff regarding speech and language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

    • May identify potential research projects, assist with the design and implementation of clinical research and data collection activities.

    Other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required

    • 1-2 years of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology in a health care setting preferred

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build strong team-based relationships. Flexibility and problem-solving skills required.

    • Eligibility for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology required

    • New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology required

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 71,760 - $ 93,288 Annually

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
