Sr. Accountant

Description

Robert Half is actively recruiting for an strong Sr. Accountant/ Consultant for a 3 months+ engagement. The consultant's primary responsibilities will be supporting the accounting team with month end close, booking journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, doing flux analysis and complex accounting entries. In addition, the consultant will need a strong understanding of GASB accounting. This role is onsite in Indio, CA.

Technical Skills

• Complex financial transaction experience (Bonds, Loans, Debt covenants)

• Ability to read contracts and understand the accounting and how to apply it

• Strong month end close experience (booking entries, reconciliations, critical thinking skills)

• Analyze monthly financial statements' actual to budget and balance sheet flux analysis

• Support external audit if needed

• GASB (big plus)

• Heavy Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, large data sets)

Requirements - Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

• CPA certification is desirable.

• Demonstrable experience in Balance Sheet Reconciliation.

• Experience in Bank Reconciliations is required.

• Proficiency in General Ledger management.

• Experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Experience in Month End Close activities.

• Knowledge of Month-end Close Activities is required.

• Experience in creating Month-end Journal Entries.

• Proficiency in Monthly Account Reconciliation.

• Must possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.

• Experience working in a government setting is preferred.

• Must comply with all state and federal regulations relating to the role.
