Sr. Accountant

Description A well-respected firm in the Construction/Contractor field is working with Robert Half to find a Senior Accountant with previous accounting experience. This role prepares and consolidates financial statements, analyzes and reconciles accounts, analyzes cash flow, creates budgets and forecasts, prepares audits, and manages internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting to attain company goals. Candidates will need excellent analytical skills and an ability to keep up in a fast-paced workspace. This Senior Accountant role is based in Eagan, Minnesota with a company in the Construction/Contractor field. This position comes with solid compensation, benefits, and advancement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide monthly accounting closure procedures and deliverables, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

• Provide Balance Sheet account reconciliations

• Successfully collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, controls and provide support on special requests when necessary

• Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process

• Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary

• Partake in various department-wide initiatives

• Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

• Analyze financial information and report on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

• Produce monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management purposes Requirements - Skilled at time management

• Expertise in financial reporting

• Financial Statement experience

• Month-end Close Activities experience desired

• BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

• Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

• 5+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Skilled with ERP systems

• High attention to detail

• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

• SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience

• Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

• Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

• Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
