    Our Manufacturing client located in Wayne, New Jersey currently has a vacancy for a strong Sr. Accountant who has a strong knowledge of Sales & Use Tax. This role entails ensuring accurate and timely filing of multiple state, county, and local sales and use tax as well as coordination of sales tax audits with external auditors. The individual will also assist in preparing monthly journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and analysis and ad hoc projects as needed.

    Responsibilities

    • Accurately prepare and file state, county and local sales tax, use tax and property tax returns

    • Review sales records and verify tax rates ensuring proper rates

    • Maintain tax calendar for all filing responsibilities

    • Research and respond to state sales tax authorities to resolve tax issues including audits by developing and maintaining audit trail and data reporting integrity for all sales, use and property tax needs

    • Ensure compliance of all sales and use, tax license and property tax laws and regulations

    • Assist with Corporate journal entry preparation, verification and posting

    • Complete timely and accurate month end reconciliations

    • Address any sales & use tax deficiencies with the appropriate locations to ensure future compliance

    • Assist in various specific tax projects as assigned which may involve research and compliance in sales tax, business licenses and general ledger accounting

    • Reconcile annual fixed asset schedules for property tax compliance

    • Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.

    Requirements - Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

    • Demonstrable experience in managing the general ledger and facilitating journal entries.

    • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for financial data management and analysis.

    • Experience in handling month-end close processes.

    • Knowledge of sales and use tax practices and procedures.

    • Previous experience in a senior accounting role within the service industry.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

    • Capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • Professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is preferred.

    • Familiarity with accounting software and systems.
