    JOB SUMMARY

    NORC at the University of Chicago is an independent research organization with more than 80 years of leadership and experience in research, data collection and analysis, program evaluation, and policy analysis. NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a Senior Associate to assist in consulting, research, and data analysis projects for health care clients, including health plans, providers, disease groups, and foundations. Such projects will generate insights and quantitative information to inform clients' business strategy, policy positioning, and external thought leadership. This position reports to a Senior Manager within Health Care Strategy.

    The Senior Associate will play a significant role in assisting a world-renowned non-profit research organization to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving research landscape. The Senior Associate must thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly comprehend and act on changing priorities when necessary.

    DEPARTMENT: Health Care Strategy

    NORC Health includes five research departments: Health Care Evaluation, Health Care Programs, Public Health, Health Sciences, and Health Care Strategy, each of which are led by department heads providing the committed leadership and close collaboration across departments. NORC Health departments conduct research to inform the public and policymakers, while improving Americans' health and quality of life.

    The Health Care Strategy (HCS) team consists of professional staff providing a broad range of policy, analytics, and strategic advisory services to a wide array of private sector and non-profit clients. HCS is an important component of NORC's diversification strategy to complement NORC's robust federal government work portfolio by building more foundation, and trade association work. This is an exceptional opportunity to develop expertise supporting non-government clients that need deep and actionable policy or business insights on how best to meet their policy or business goals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supports quantitative and qualitative projects for health care clients working closely with senior staff.

    • Conducts original research, literature reviews, and analysis on critical health care issues.

    • Engages directly with client contacts to support project management functions, including meeting scheduling and updates on project timelines and budgets.

    • Creates original drafts of deliverables in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with strong executive summaries, clear and concise writing, and visual appeal.

    • Collaborates with colleagues across NORC to coordinate on projects or engage experts for input on project work.

    • Manages individual assignments effectively, including appropriate prioritization of activities and on-time delivery.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree preferred

    • At least 2 years of work experience in health care research or consulting

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders, and internal and external clients

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong active listening skills.

    • Strong critical thinking skills

    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills

    • Results driven, self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving work and market environment

    • Must be flexible and able to able to prioritize and manage multiple projects with solid performance/results

    • Demonstrated project management experience

    • Must be a team player who has a proven ability to work with multiple layers of the organization (including C-level executives)

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a particular expertise in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

    • Proficiency with content management processes and tools, SharePoint experience a plus

    • Attention to detail

    • Experience in and passion for nonprofit/public sector communications is preferred

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    The pay range for this position is $68,000 -$102,000.

    This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC's comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
