    Your Opportunity

    The California Workplace studio is seeking a Sr. Job Captain with responsibility for project quality and client satisfaction. The role involves client interface and management of the internal technical team and external consultants. The Sr. Job Captain is expected to have a broad set of skills, experience, and knowledge. This role is expected to use sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective tools and techniques to execute and deliver projects. You will be the technical lead for the Workplace production team and will work collaboratively with the Principal and Project Manager to deliver timely best-value projects of varying sizes, complexities and schedules.

    Your experience ensures that you are familiar with all phases of project development and capable of leading the production of design and contract documents. You will participate in the development of integrated design proposals, continuously overseeing a building information model, and preparing a variety of output/drawings throughout the project, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Technical team lead of projects, ensuring technical quality and execution.

    • Execute and deliver well-coordinated project documents on time.

    • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients, projects, deadlines, and priorities, assuring appropriate management of team resources and deliverables and ensuring alignment to client expectations.

    • Be the client's trusted partner to provide technical knowledge of codes and standards, building systems, and materials.

    • Development of technical specifications for projects.

    • Working with the design team, engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.

    • Oversee utilization of BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of interior building components.

    • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.

    • Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.

    • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, specifications, etc.

    • Participate in the bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.

    • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.

    • Participate in project coordination and meetings with technical team members internal or external consultants, owner and contractor, and sub-contractors.

    • Manage technical team and process creating contract documents.

    • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis.

    • Coordination of specs with construction documents.

    • Participate in constructability reviews.

    • Conduct quality control on own projects.

    • Mentor junior staff.

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in the AE industry.

    • Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply accessibility codes, applicable building and life-safety codes.

    • Strong understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

    • Capable of developing technical project specifications.

    • Strong knowledge of interior building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

    • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program.

    • Ability to develop floor plans, wall sections, and details in Revit.

    • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

    • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.

    • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.

    • Ability to sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.

    • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.

    • Ability to communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).

    • Ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively while working remotely.

    • Strong presentation and interview skills.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Studio, and BIM 360.

    • Experience with E-Specs, AutoCAD, Revit, and graphic software is preferred.

    • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

    Work Location

    • Los Angeles, CA.

    • Hybrid, minimum days in the office to be determined with supervisor.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited program.

    Architecture license, NCIDQ accreditation or CID certification preferred.

    Minimum of 10 years of experience in the architecture industry with a minimum of 3 years as a Sr. Job Captain or Project Manager.

    LEED accreditations are pluses.

    Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

    Salary Range(s):

    • CA Other Areas $93,900 - CA Other Areas $140,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

    The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
